Injury Analysis: Buffalo Bills WR Quentin Skinner

As the Buffalo Bills prepare for training camp, they’re looking to find that extra depth at wide receiver, signing WR Quentin Skinner.

Skinner comes to Buffalo after entering the league as a UDFA with the New York Jets in 2025. He spent most of the year on the practice squad before appearing in the Week 18 contest against the Bills to close out Highmark Stadium. He’s also the last player to score any points in the stadium before it closed for good.

As with many players, Skinner comes to the Bills with some injury history as he looks to make the roster in 2026.

Read below for a full injury history and analysis.

Injury History

ACL Tear, Senior Year

Skinner tore his ACL after just four games into his senior year of high school. It’s not known which side was torn but he missed the rest of the season and redshirted in 2020 at Kansas.

2025 New York Jets

2026 Jets

Undisclosed injury, OTAs

Skinner suffered an undisclosed injury that kept him out for a portion of Phase 3 OTAs and was waived with an injury designation on June 8 before reverting to injured reserve. On July 13, he was waived from injured reserve which at that point the Bills claimed him.

Buffalo Bills Injury Analysis

Skinner doesn’t have much of an injury history other than his ACL tear and recent undisclosed injury. Considering his knee injury from high school was seven years ago, it’s a non-issue at this point. He has shown that he can increase his level of play at each level and not suffer any further complications from that original injury.

His time at Kansas saw him appear in 38 out of 38 games with no publicly reported injuries. Finally, he spent all last season on the Jets practice squad until his call up for the final game. I can’t find any instances of him missing training camp practice or reports that he was dealing with anything at all last year.

His undisclosed injury doesn’t appear to have been serious considering they placed him on injured reserve and with the Jets waiving him, this means that he was healthy enough to get a release or that Skinner requested one. Considering the Bills signed him to a contract means that he was able to pass a physical. There aren’t any reports as to the extent of the injury, but factoring in the time frame, this was likely a mild strain or sprain that needed some time to heal but the Jets needed the roster spot more than his presence in the building.

Overall, there aren’t really any concerns for Quentin Skinner’s health. We may find out more about his undisclosed injury especially if he suffers another injury in training camp. He is going to have to fight for every rep and is far from guaranteed to make the roster. Whether he makes the roster or practice squad, the Bills liked him enough to bring him in coming off injury. This is another example of talent being the primary limitations rather than the injury concerns.

I’d like to welcome Quentin Skinner to Buffalo and to remain healthy this season.
