That felt good, really good.
In fact, it felt incredible!
For the Buffalo Bills to put that kind of game plan together with those results was stupendous. To do it against the New England Patriots beating them 47-17 washed away 20 years of pain, frustration, misery, and every other negative feeling imaginable.
The NFL is still a week-to-week league, but it’s going to be tough for anyone to stop that type of production with all the available offensive weapons and defensive prowess. On top of it, the Bills only suffered one injury during the entire game.
Below is the Bills injury report and game recap along with remaining thoughts from the game as they prepare for the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs.
In-game injuries
DE Mario Addison (Right Shoulder)
Addison left the game with 6:54 left in the third quarter following an attempted tackle on Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne. He dove forward as Bourne ran away, landing on his right shoulder. By video, it initially appeared as though he suffered a possible AC Joint sprain with how he hit as seen below.
The training staff worked on his right shoulder as he was on the ground. Addison was eventually able to walk off under his own power and into the blue medical tent. He did not return to the game but considering the score, it was not needed.
It appeared as though he landed on his elbow with his arm under him, potentially jamming the head of the humerus up into the clavicle region, possibly causing a possible AC joint sprain.
A labrum tear also can’t be discounted as they were working the shoulder into external rotation to potentially reduce the shoulder if it was dislocated. Both possibilities have similar mechanisms of injury, but ideally, the AC joint sprain is far better than a labrum tear.
I expect him to be on the Bills injury report this week and it may limit him. Normally I would expect him to miss the next game, but considering it’s the playoffs, he might never get another chance at this considering his age.
Between an injection and possible bracing, he will be able to play through either injury. Unfortunately, he may have difficulty shedding the blocks off to his right and tackling.
The Bills are as healthy as possible at the right time in the playoffs. This could be the difference as they prepare for the Chiefs this week. Last time, the Bills were without LB Matt Milano due to a hamstring strain back in Week 5.
As fans, we can only hope for another strong week of practice and an effective game plan. They will prepare for the opportunity to head back to the AFC Championship game heading back to Kansas City.
