Buffalo Bills vs Denver Broncos Divisional Round Injury Review

Buffalo Bills vs Denver Broncos Divisional Round Injury Review

The Buffalo Bills traveled out west to take on the Denver Broncos and lost to the Denver Broncos 33-30. After a back-and-forth game that saw multiple lead changes, the Bills simply had too many turnovers to overcome.

Read below for the in-game injuries and analysis.

In-Game Injuries

LB Dorian Williams (Neck)

Williams started off the game with an injury after a thunderous hit on Broncos WR Marvin Mims on the opening kickoff. This was a helmet-to-helmet hit and initially the backboard was brought out for the possibility of a neck injury. This was precautionary as part of the Canadian C-Spine rules but was waved off after he was cleared to walk off.

After an assessment in the medical tent, Williams was brought to the locker room for further evaluation. After a further evaluation, he was ruled out due to a neck injury.

There are a number of various injuries that he could have suffered including a spinal cord contusion, disc herniation, whiplash, concussion, or other possible issues that required further evaluation at a local hospital.

Despite the ominous reporting, this is all precautionary due to the Canadian C-Spine rules.

It wouldn’t have necessarily ruled him out for next week until they get more information. I don’t recall many instances where a guy gets sent to the hospital for a neck injury and plays the next week.

He was later seen in the locker room after the game indicating that he was cleared from any serious injury. Furthermore, he posted on Instagram that everything came back negative.

C Connor McGovern (Concussion Check)

McGovern took a shot to his head from Curtis Samuel trying to recover a James Cook fumble with 13:28 left in the second quarter.

After being escorted to the locker room for further evaluation, McGovern was cleared to return.

CB Cam Lewis (Cramping)

Lewis went down after a tackle with 38 seconds left in the second quarter on a tackle. Initially, it wasn’t clear what he injured but reports later stated that this was due to cramping.

While cramping is a rather non-issue, the killer was that his replacement, Darnell Savage let up a touchdown to Lil’Jordan Humphrey for the Broncos to go up 17-10. He was able to return in the second half.

TE Dawson Knox (Stinger)

Knox went to the medical tent after a play with 14:18 left in the third quarter on the Josh Allen fumble. He suffered a stinger trying to recover the fumble and cleared to return.

DT Ed Oliver (Knee)

Oliver was questionable to return following a knee injury suffered sometime late in the third quarter which resulted in a Broncos punt with 2:30 left.

Coming into this game, he had a left knee meniscus cleanup after suffering the injury during his ramp up conditioning. It’s not clear if this was the same knee.

He does jump and land on the left foot coming down but it’s not clear if he injured his meniscus once again or collided with the several players when he fell forward.

CB Tre’Davious White (Undisclosed)

White left the game with 1:12 left with an undisclosed injury.

He got pushed backwards and came up grabbing his right shoulder. This could have been a stinger as he returned quickly but his absence was a killer as this led to another touchdown when Dane Jackson came in to Marvin Mims.

OL Alec Anderson (Undisclosed)

Anderson went to the locker room for x-rays, but it’s not clear what he had imaged.

Final Thoughts

The Bills lost. I got nothing else to say. I’m despondent.

Check back for locker room clean outs for injury updates.
